Etching a Board Using Ferric Chloride
Step 7: Rinsing the board
Once the copper has been eaten away to your satisfaction, you should immediately rinse the board in cold water to stop the etching process. Fish it out using the rubber glove. Ferric chloride stains everything it comes into contact with; if it gets on your skin, your skin can be stained for days. Do not allow the etchant to dry on the board, since it will continue to digest the copper. Set the board aside to dry.
