Step 19: Putting the socket in place

Insert the IC socket into the holes. Here I am using 2 sets of 4 socket-holes, but 8-pin IC sockets will work just as well. I just happened to have these lying around. Bend the leads a bit on the solder side to hold the socket in place.

You don't need to use a socket if you don't want to, but I highly recommend it because you won't accidentally fry your chip with excess heat, and it will be much easier to "audition" other opamp chips if you so choose.

I really don't think hands get any bigger than this.
