Step 21: Sizing up the new chip

Here is the replacement chip, a JRC4558 opamp IC. These are available from Steve Daniels at Small Bear Electronics.

You may need to bend the leads in a little bit to fit the socket. If so, use your gigantic fingers. Linear opamp chips are not particularly static-sensitive, so you can be pretty rough with them.
